Östlund's dedication to the craft is evident as he continues to refine the movie, even adding a new scene with Succession star Nicholas Braun. The extensive 75-day shoot, utilizing a real Boeing 747, has resulted in a lengthy editing process, but Östlund assures fans that the film is nearing completion. However, his recent visit to Cannes was not solely for his own film. Östlund, along with fellow Swedish filmmakers Felix Herngren and Johan Kindblom, has launched MyList, a film recommendation platform that challenges the conventional methods of film discovery. MyList invites a diverse range of individuals, from filmmakers and actors to politicians and ordinary film lovers, to curate personal lists of recommended films, organized by theme or category, with personal reflections. This platform aims to bridge the gap between film industry insiders and the general public, offering a more meaningful and personal approach to film discovery. The site is ad-supported and free, with a focus on providing direct streaming options for recommended titles. While it currently operates in Sweden, an English-language version is in the works, with plans for a global rollout. MyList's founders believe that human taste should prevail over algorithmic curation, and their platform aims to celebrate individual recommendations and experiences, moving beyond the typical rating systems that dominate the film discovery landscape.
